Recipe

Yesterday - i was alone at home - so decided to do some experimentational cooking
So I made "Moong Ki Dal Ka Halwa" - something i had never made.

Ingredients:
1 katori moong dal - soaked in water for 2 hrs
1 katori sugar
1 katori ghee
2 1/2 katori milk
Dry Fruits - to garnisk

Method:
Put the soaked dal in a colander for 10-15 minutes - so that extra water is drained out. Now grind this dal coarsely (it should have minimum water). Take a thick bottomed kadhai. Add ghee to it. When the ghee melts - add the ground dal. Start stirring the mixture. This constant stirring will need to be done for at least 10 minutes. The dal will tend to stick to the bottom of the kadhaai initially - so keep on stirring. Keep on stirring till the dal starts leaving ghee - and is almost pinkish/brown in colur. It will also become much easier to handle when it is roasted properly.
Now add the milk to this mixture - and also add the sugar. Stir it again for some time.
This mixture started to stick to the kadhai as well - so i innovated at this point of time. I put this entire mixture into a microwave bowl - and put this in microwave - for 7-8 minutes. (I kept stirring it every minute)
The timing of microwave will differ according to what stage you put it in the microwave.
The halwa is ready when it starts oozing out the ghee (you can actually collect the ghee with spoon if you want to)
Now add roasted cashews and almods to the halwa - and serve HOT.

PS: Next time i plan to try doing the entire cooking in the microwave. Lets see how that turns out.
